How to disable IE Enhanced Security in Windows 2003

Windows 2003 comes with a really secure but also really annoying feature called Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.

If you run it just as a server and don't plan to develop or do other workstation kind-a-stuff on the machine then stop reading skip this article is not for you.

So you do want to use it as a workstation, well fine then here is how to get rid of it:

  1. On the Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  4. In the Windows Components Wizard, de-select Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration and then click Next.

 

<warning>Please keep in mind the risk of disabling security features. As long as you are aware of the risks, no problemo, go ahead but altough it [can be/is] really anoying it's there for a reason ;-)</warning>
