A while ago I posted about Coverflow, an application only available for MacOSX users. After my visit to the MIX06 conference and seeing the possibilities of WinFX it was just a matter of time before someone would create a Coverflow-like application for Windows Vista.

Brad Abrams found it as Harmony in one of the labs of Thirteen23.

Brad writes about Harmony as a great example of the possibilities of the .NET Framework 3.0. I think it's more than just a technological upgrade. It gives us the possibility to move to the next step in GUI development. Until now most GUI's are flat, the next generation -Vista with Aero is a sample- offers more 3D like capabilities. After that? Head-mounted-displays? A holographic interface? Who knows? But I'm drifting of here. Back to Harmony.

After watching the demo I downloaded Harmony, the Feb CTP release and ran it on my computer. At first nothing ... but after being patient the Harmony interface showed and the application started downloading cover art from Amazon. Well the result looks great. Only a few glitches, it doesn't play the music files :'( and some of the cover art doesn't match with the actual audio files. Podcasts from Hanselminutes are displayed as the Soundtrack of "The Phantom of the Opera" minor glitch? ;-).
But hey it’s a beta and as a showcase still a great example.
