MIX06, flair hand Highlights of the first day of the MIX06 conference in Las Vegas

Last week I attended the Deep Dive SQL Server 2005 course at Class-A. The trainer Bob Beauchemin from SQLskills shared a lot of information with us on SQL Server 2005.

One of the things I would never thought of is updating the "Books Online". Bob told us that the documentation shipped was based on a previous release of SQL Server 2005. That also explains the Downloading and Updating Books Online link in the "Additional Information" pane of the Books Online mainscreen.
The december release of the English version is available for download, the download size is 118.3 MB.

How do you know if your Books Online or up-to-date? Check the title bar of the Books Online window. After updating the Books Online the title bar shows what version of the documentation is installed.

Books Online

At the Web 2.0 conference in 2005 Dick Hardt gave a presentation on Identity Management. It's interesting in several ways.

The subject itself, identity management is food for thought. Everybody want's it but nobody has the perfect solution ... The presentation gives a nice overview of where we are at the moment and speaker's view for the future.

Dick's presentation style is a different story. I downloaded the .wmv version so I could speed up the presentation to watch it at a comfortable 1.4 or 1.6 playing speed. I'm not sure where I read about this trick but it's a time saver that's for sure.
Anyway I started to play the presentation but as soon as Dick started his presentation I had to set the play speed back to normal. The timing of this presentation is just unbelievable. I'm not going to explain in more detail just see it for yourself.

The IT Crowd

From the same producer as "The Office" comes this new British sitcom about an IT Department and their inhabitants.
Two sterotype sysadmins without people skills a female manager who knows nothing about computers and a couple of other colorfull characters make this serie into a must-see.

Unlike the famous colored balls commercial but still very funny. A couple of commercials from a famous German car company.

The motto is "Un-pimp your ride" my favorite is number two.

Back online, altough the server at home functioned quit nicely, it's better to have my blog running at the server of my hosting provider.
