LXC first release Aug 2008 alive and well today https://linuxcontainers.org/ systemd-nspawn first commit in 2011 alive and well today originally just a simple test and debug utility Docker all the things 2013 python script became golang (not a single good link to the source) lmctfy 2013 academic offering dead, but still a good example of form over function rkt Dec 2014 spec-first design (appC spec) libct from odis/openVZ folks C library of container helpers (not docker or lxc related) libcontainer (now runc) 2014 to have something golang native, rather than shell-out to lxc (eventually meant more shelling-out) the original OCI runtime lxd 2014 container manager built on lxc (came after Docker made asks of lxc, then abandoned it for libcontainer) OCI Specification 2015 (image and runtime) v1.

Keynote - Spotify Kristian Lindwall, Anders Ivarsson
Why?
Teams are called squads BFS, browse, feed, search Artist Team, x, y, z Together: music player Tribe
Spotify is made up out of Tribes
Interface elements are owned by different Tribes
All together an organic structure, people move toward other Tribes but stay connected to their original Tribe.
For a squad to be successful:
Explore your context _ users and stakeholders _ priorities * interfaces (to the other squads) Deliver value - early and often _ squad and core metrics (engagement is also a metric, usage et cetera) _ prototyping (new running feature) * continuous delivery Keep improving _ improve everything _ retrospectives * embrace failure (fail wall, it’s not bad to fail, just accept it) Kickass engineering _ collective code ownership _ platformize (easy to deploy, easy to backup, automate) * automate everything Leadership is about supporting the team Leadership is a behaviour, not a role

Last day of this “72 hour” meeting.
This last day I attended three sessions:
Wiring the Web ( NGW058 ) Two members of Ray Ozzie’s team presented two of Ozzies brainchildren:
Live Clipboard ( LC specification, LC screencasts ) The intention of LC is to share data between systems. Exchange data between websites but also exchange data from websites to and from the desktop.
Simple Sharing Extension ( SSE specification ) This is an enhancement on RSS 2.

After a broken night, thanks to jet-lag, the day started with a keynote.
Keynote The speaker was Joe Belfiori, little guy, big function ( Corporate Vice President of MS ). The title of the keynote was something like “Beyond the browser” and indeed internet functionality is spreading like a viral infection. Thanks to the massive adaption of broadband we now see that internet is going to be integrated everywhere.
One of the great examples was the Vista Sidebar and the experience for the user it created.

My notes for the first day:
Keynote “Big” Bill as keynote speaker. MySpace.com, very very large community site. BBC gadget to browse through TV broadcasts, an incredibly rich userinterface with great functionality; download missed episodes of a serie, share it with contacts, really fancy 3D rolodex IE7 beta 2 ( build 5335 ) is available for download. InfoCard, very userfriendly interface to sign in at trusted sites. RSS enhanced with list extensions, this extension gives the user the possibillity to sort the RSS items in different ways.
